When thinking about marketing your business and especially if you are creating a new website the question of whether you need a blog may come up.
There is no denying that a blog is a great way to demonstrate your expertise and knowledge and if your business is driven by Referral Marketing then a blog will be very important for you.
The problem with a blog is that it needs updating regularly, there is nothing worse than visiting a website, seeing they have a blog, clicking on it to see what they have to say only to find they haven’t said anything since 2014! So if you don’t have the time to write your blog regularly (or the budget to pay someone to write it) then probably best to leave it well alone.
If you do decide to start a blog, here are my top tips:
- If you are not sure what to write, think about some questions that come up when you talk to you clients and try to answer those
- Keep your blogs concise, a page and a half of A4 (at 11pt) is more than enough
- Find a good image to accompany each blog and draw people in
- Don’t forget to share your blog content on social media to reach a larger audience
